Assessing losses in the materials sector
Our experts have experience in all manner of large-scale materials projects including disputes related to chemicals, construction materials, manufacturing, metals and mining.
We have assessed losses and valued projects in investment treaty claims and contractual disputes. We have been involved with projects in many jurisdictions throughout Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Far East, each bringing unique challenges due to their high-value and complex nature.
Our recent cases include:
- Quantification of losses incurred by a mining company following alleged breach of investment treaty by a Central Asian republic.
- Assessed losses arising to a company in the European quarrying industry as a result of misrepresentation and breaches of accounting warranties.
- Acting in a High Court case concerning a dispute over a global, vertically-integrated primary and processed aluminium producing group. Our work included assessing the fair value and market value valuations of the holding company.
- Advised on disputed accounting issues and provided oral testimony in a LCIA arbitration between a steelworks service provider and a sovereign state in Eastern Europe.
